As the Atlanta home inspector’s wife, I often go to several different networking groups per month.  And this is the thing that I noticed about doing all of this.  I meet several people at these groups, but I never really really find out what all they do.  I know a lot of realtors also and work with several of them on a regular basis, but I got to thinking, do I know what their specialty is?  One of the reasons that I got to thinking about this is, this past week we had a client that had a need for a structural engineer, an electrician and a termite guy.  Luckily I knew just the guys to help with two of the items and I knew who I could call to get the third item handled. 

Another thing that got me to thinking about this was another story.  I went to lunch with a couple of lady friends over a week ago and one of them was saying something about the fact that she needed to find someone to help with her website, they have one up but it is nothing to brag about.  Well she continued to talk about this problem for several minutes and I finally asked her ” do you not know that I build wordpress websites?”  The look on her face was priceless, no she didn’t know and yet we have been friends for quite a while.  All she knew about me was that I do the marketing for our home inspection company.

How many people do you know and how can you begin to build your own network of people who you can recommend to others?  It is simple, start with those people that you use on a regular basis, add them to a reference sheet and if nothing else be prepared to hand it out to those clients who have questions.  People don’t forget those people who help them out on a regular basis.  You can be the “Go To Person”!

There are so many different ways to stay in touch now days, including different social media platforms. Even large Fortune 500 companies are jumping on the band wagon of Twitter. Now days you have to stay in touch with the consumer and you have to do it online and offline. I love Facebook and and Ping.fm to stay in touch online and of course email is still an option!  Are you using all the tools out there to keep you in touch.  Are you connecting with your clients and their friends on Facebook?  Are you posting video testimonials on YouTube?  Are you blogging about your day and your business on your blog?   Do you send out Thank You notes to your clients, referral sources and those you meet? These are just a few of the places that you can get connected through.  Put something to use today, you’ll be glad you did.

As the Atlanta Home Inspectors wife I love learning about the latest technology, tho YouTube is not new or even remotely new.  As our primary marketing person, I look for different ways to market our business without it costing us an arm and a leg, and in today’s market, we all need cheap.  One of the best ways that I have found is to do our own YouTube Videos.  I found the following press release just the other day that confirms my ideas that YouTube is huge.  YouTube is now one of the largest places being searched on the Internet.  Are your clients able to find you there?

As the Atlanta Home Inspectors wife I do a lot of research online and I love ActiveRain for valuable information.  One of my friends, Michael Thorton, wrote a great article  about  an application called Nearby Tweets.  From the best I can tell it looks like a pretty cool application that you can find the local folks with.  I’m planning on going over myself and checking it out.   You should also head over to Michael’s blog as you never know what you are going to find there.  He shares some amazing pictures and some thought provoking messages.

As the Atlanta home inspectors Wife I am all the time on Activerain searching, reading and learning.  I was on there tonight and I ran across this really cool post written by Pippa Mac, http://activerain.com/blogsview/873791/First-Time-Real-Estate-Home-Buyers-and-Loan-in-The-Woodlands-Shenandoah-Texas-REMAX-REALTOR.  She told about a couple that were First Time Home Buyers and how they found they’re perfect home.  She then finished it off with pictures of the couple as they pulled into their driveway the first time, holding the keys, holding the sold sign and some others.  I’m thinking if you have a blog, what a great idea for marketing pieces.  You have someone else’s story shouting a happy ending and you helped the event to happen.  Great job to Pippa for thinking outside the box. 

To me this is a great marketing tip and would be great for drawing people back to your blog on a regular basis, don’t forget to send the Happy First Time Home Buyers a link so that they can share it with their friends and family.

I like to shop in bulk and when I can I buy the larger packs of ground chuck on sale. I use to bring it home and break it up into 1 pound packages and then freeze. I have learned that when I purchase it in the 5pound plus package not only do I save money but I can also save time. When I get it home I go ahead and brown it all then put it in 1 pound packages. This makes it easy to pull out for tacos, hamburger helper, vegatable soup, or to add to spagetti. Not having to stand over the stove and thaw it makes it so easy to use right out of the freezer.

Hope this helps some other busy wives out there. I know with trying to do the marketing, teaching and learning about social marketing, blogging and everything else, I don’t want to worry about dinner time.

As an Alpharetta home inspector, David is always taking some of the craziest pictures.  A lot of the times I’m still trying to figure out exactly what the problem is, but you see, here’s the key.  David is trained and certified to look for these types of items and I’m not, and most home buyers are not trained either.  I think about some of the things that David has ran across while doing a thorough home inspection (including snakes, bats and other creepy crawling things) and I just shutter.  There is no way that I would go in some of the places that a home inspector has to go. 

Here’s one of the problems that David runs across as an Atlanta home inspector on numerous inspections.  It’s a dryer vent that is coiled up and laying on the floor.  This traps the lint in the vent and it is considered a safety hazard. 

Finding a home inspector in the Atlanta area is not a difficult task. In fact there are hundreds of home inspectors in the North Atlanta area such as Cumming, Canton, Woodstock, Roswell, Alpharetta, and Marietta. Out of all of those home inspectors only a select number are actually certified Georgia home inspectors.

The process of the home inspection requires about four hours for most homes and a professional home inspector would invite you to be there for the home inspection.  David knows that your time is valuable so he understands if you can’t be there for the entire home inspection process, but he does like for you to be there by the time he is finished so he can go over his findings with you in person.
